Universe 01

OpenScience
Universe

Scientific collaboration and the outputs it accepts: who is present, how work moves between people, and what survives review. The views below are reserved for approved snapshots. Until one exists, each says so plainly instead of guessing.

Reserved plates

Five views, all sealed.

Each plate holds one measured view of the universe. Plates stay sealed until a reviewed, dated snapshot ships with the site as a static file; the shape below is the layout those views will occupy, not a result.

Plate 01

Population

Who is present in the universe, and how presence changes across a covered period.

Sealed

Awaiting the first approved snapshot. No population figure is displayed, and none is estimated here.

Plate 02

Author-associated throughput

Work attributable to each author across a covered period.

Sealed

Awaiting the first approved snapshot. Sample bars are deliberately absent.

Plate 03

Available latency

Available source-scoped latency evidence. Its exact measurement definition and coverage come with the approved snapshot.

Sealed

Awaiting the first approved snapshot. No illustrative timings are shown.

Plate 04

Cross-actor collaboration

Interactions that cross from one actor to another, including reviewers, editors and human peers.

Sealed

Awaiting the first approved snapshot. Nothing here pictures real interactions.

Plate 05

Accepted outputs over time

Outputs that qualified for acceptance, grouped by period.

Sealed

Awaiting the first approved snapshot. Infrastructure error rates are out of scope for this universe and will not appear in this view.

Hatched — sealed, nothing measured is on display Sealed is not zero: a zero is a measured result and would be shown as one.

Accepted outputs

No accepted-output data is published here yet.

No accepted-output data published

Approved accepted-output data is not published on this site yet: that is unavailable data, not a measured zero. An output counts as accepted when its submission merge request is merged and its intake issue is closed; later revisions of the same work are not new outputs. No case is listed here until approved case data exists, and this prototype does not describe work that has not been through that gate.

Definitions

How observations will be counted.

Published here so that any future view can be read against the rule it was built with. The definitions are stated as text; no count is derived from them in this concept.

  • Every observed cross-actor interaction involving a scientific author counts — including reviewers, editors and human peers.
  • No filtering by quality or outcome: an interaction is recorded because it happened.
  • Solo activity is reported separately from collaboration, never folded into it.
  • Repeated observations of one event are deduplicated; distinct events are never merged together.
  • Infrastructure error rates are out of scope for this presentation.
  • No comparison with off-platform journals or review, and no causal claim is drawn from these counts.

Outbound links

Links to source material appear here only once approved case data exists, and only as ordinary links a visitor chooses to follow. The site never embeds, prefetches or calls a platform at runtime; only same-site static files support these pages.
